THE CASTLE HILL INN - NEWPORT, RI

In July 2016, Matt surprised Lexie with a trip to Newport, RI, where they had wanted to visit together for quite some time. Matt had been planning the trip ever since he had asked Tim and Susie for blessing to ask for Lexie’s hand in marriage on their family trip in June.

Friday, August 12th, 2016, Matt and Lexie made the trip to Newport. Matt had planned for the proposal to take place at the lighthouse by the water at the Castle Hill Inn. After a very quiet (as Lexie recalls) two hour car ride driving through a thunderstorm, the clouds finally broke as they arrived at the restaurant.

When they arrived at the restaurant, Matt asked Lexie to take a walk with him out to the lighthouse before their reservation. Right at sunset, Matt dropped to one knee and proposed.

While Lexie was overwhelmed with surprise, she anticipated a quiet dinner between the two of them to romanticize about the wedding. Matt had planned a second thoughtful surprise for Lexie and had their immediate families fly in to join them for an amazing weekend in Newport. There were plenty of champagne and cigars, making for one unforgettable weekend.
